I trained with Coach Brice since I was 10 years old and now attend Penn State-Harrisburg, where I study engineering and play on the D3 soccer team as a center defensive midfielder. Coach taught me technical, tactical and ball skills, emphasized conditioning, and most of all, taught me how to think analytically on the field (“good soccer sense”). Over the years, I’ve had many coaches and he’s the best there is — technical, talented, hard working, constructive, motivational, passionate about soccer, and compassionate about people. If you want to compete at the college level, he’s one of the few who can prep you up for the rigors of the 7 days/week training schedule.
Over the past 2 years my daughter has improved tremendously as a soccer player with Coach Brice. Her skills and confidence on the field continue to grow each season, as does her passion and joy for the game! She loves being a part of the FC Lions!
Both of my boys have been coached soccer by coach Brice and I can say without hesitation he not only provides excellent soccer training, he is a big part of why my kids walk around with tremendous confidence.
Three years ago Coach Brice put together a team of scared 9 year old girls. Today those girls have grown into amazing young athletes. To watch them grow and develop has been an amazing journey. Through hours of practices all year round and summer camps Coach Brice has taught the girls the importance of growing as individual players at the same time teaching them the importance of being part of a team. Many times after a game, parents and coaches have come up to us and the other FC Lions parents to compliment our girls on their footwork, agility skills and on their grace and sportsmanship. Coach Brice has taught our daughter to be confident and to be a leader, skills that we have seen her use off the soccer field as well. Thank you Coach Brice for your dedication and for caring so much in what you do.
Coach Brice is passionate about soccer, has the ability to instill this passion in his players while teaching them respect and good sportsmanship. He is patient, focused on teamwork as well as each player’s personal strengths. He promotes integrity on and off the field. Thanks to Coach Brice, each year our son grows not only as a soccer player but as a confident young man.
Coach Brice has coached all three of our kids and we are very satisfied with his program. We really love and appreciate his style of coaching. He is very patient with all his players which enable them to develop in their play and decision making. He is also very strict and disciplined also setting high, but realistic expectations for his players. These values will help them become better soccer players, but more importantly they will help become better prepared for their lives outside of soccer.
Coach Brice has great passion for soccer and imparts that on the kids in every practice. He focuses on long term player development above simply winning games. Through his style he teaches great character values such as respect and perseverance that will serve the kids beyond soccer in everyday life.
We have had 3 of our children in his program and have seen tremendous growth in their skills and love for the game.
Our son has trained with and played for coach Brice for several years. While the victories are nice, what we truly value about the experience is the skills Andrew and the other boys have developed. With coach Brice, the players have gone from youngsters just learning how to kick a ball to appreciating the difference between dribbling, passing and shooting, and knowing when to do each. They have learned the importance of spacing, positioning and teamwork, and the value of communicating on the field. We often see players on other teams “communicate” with one another by yelling and criticizing. Brice’s players truly talk to one another in a collaborative way. While the development of footskills has been great to see, watching the boys learn the game and how to work with one another as teammates has been the most impressive of all.
Coach Brice has a combination of knowledge, strengths and personal qualities that make him an exceptional coach. He has high expectations, individualizes his approach based on the players’ needs and motivates the boys to perform their best. In addition to his excellent coaching and teaching, he reaches out to his players and builds a trusting and strong relationship with them. Jae had grown tremendously as a player and looks forward to every practice and game with Coach Brice. We see his influence on and off the field.
We have thoroughly enjoyed having Coach Brice work with our daughter for over 3 years. He teaches the fundamentals of soccer with a passion for the game and a focus on making sure the kids are having fun but learning. He has a great attitude on and off the field. Brice is dedicated to excellence and instills that in the children he coaches. We are delighted to have him coach our daughter.
Coach Brice is an amazing coach. Our daughter has been with him since she was 9 years old and her development under his training has been unbelievable. He has taught them proper skill development, hard work, and integrity on and off the field. People often assume that player development is most synonymous with improvements in athleticism. Coach Brice understands that it’s really about raising a soccer players intelligence about the game while building their character on the field. His program simply raises the level of play of his players across all facets of the sport well beyond their own natural abilities.
We are so grateful for Coach Brice. Our daughter has gained so much confidence in her ability and her love of the game is priceless!
Our daughter has been on one of Coach Brice’s teams for over two years. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience for her. Coach Brice has the ability to bring out the best in his players with a wonderful balance of praise and instruction. He develops his players’ skills so they have the confidence to use them while also teaching them to trust their teammates so they can be even stronger as a team. One of the things that sets Coach Brice apart from other coaches is that he doesn’t just go seek out the best players to make a strong team. He is willing to take players who may not initially be the most skilled, but have the desire to work hard and pushes them to become strong players. Under Coach Brice’s leadership, our daughter has grown from a girl who had an interest in soccer to a soccer player passionate about the sport. We look forward to continuing to see her develop her skills and confidence season after season.
Coach Brice has been a great inspiration for our son Ryan and has helped him tremendously in his game. Recognizing Ryan’s passion for the sport, Brice has spent considerable time with Ryan to help him further understand and appreciate all aspects of the game. As a result, Ryan has developed into an effective midfielder and his passion for the sport has only gotten stronger under Coach Brice’s tutelage. In addition to his soccer leadership, Coach Brice also inspires his players to achieve success in all aspects of their lives. Thanks to Coach Brice’s contacts and associations in the world of competitive soccer, Ryan has a whole new window of opportunity to play competitive soccer nationally or even internationally.
Our son Austin has improved tremendously over the past two years with Coach Brice. He works with the all the kids on their soccer skills, footwork and teamwork on the field. Coach Brice also gives all the kids on the team an opportunity to test their skills at weekly scrimmages. Austin enjoys the challenge to be a better soccer player.
It has been a joy to watch all the girls grow and develop over the past couple of years. Coach Brice has the unique ability as a coach to both nurture and improve their soccer skills and their character. Coach Brice is a very experienced coach and he has an incredible ability to guide and teach the players about the game of soccer. Coach Brice have asked more of Marvi than any other coach has, both physically and mentally. Marvi is now a better soccer player, and athlete. Coach Brice is deeply committed to coaching players at all levels. This includes technical skills, game skills and life skills including determination, hard work, and respect for others. He has truly developed Marvi into a completely different player who is passionate and committed to the sport of soccer.
We are greatly impressed with the way Coach Brice develops the skills and potential of all the players on the teams on which our son and daughter have participated. His emphasis is on developing proper technique, discipline and mindset, and the result is wonderful to see – teams that win, show good sportsmanship and always display teamwork. Our kids have developed not only as soccer players but also in their understanding of the need to bring discipline and commitment to all their pursuits in life.
A huge role model in my life has always been my childhood coach and mentor, Coach Brice Fomegne. Whether it was tucking in my jersey before practice or referring to Brice as ‘Coach’ I learned three important values that I utilize in everyday life. These values include commitment, respect, and fortitude. Coach Brice’s openness and straight forwardness enabled me to listen and follow directions. I began playing for Coach when I was 12 years old. He scouted me from a MSI Classic tryout convention and noticed potential in my ability to play the game.
Once I was on the FC Lions, I quickly noticed that there wasn’t any goofing around. Kids never talked while he was speaking and they always paid close attention to his lessons. He would discuss to players and I what we individually needed to work on to become a professional soccer player and create a stronger team. Coach’s story of how he became a professional player inspired me to work hard and stay humble to others. In training, Coach would play with us, so I always learned from his style of play. He wanted us to try and experiment new moves so that we could practice and try them in a game. Over the years I became one of Coach’s best players. I started to get first place in the conditioning and put 110% into every practice because he showed me it was worth it. The hard work paid off and I became captain of the team.
I stayed with Coach Brice for almost six years until I tried out for higher division teams. I could have easily left the FC Lions earlier, but the other coaches in Maryland weren’t even close to Coach’s level. Sometimes I wonder why he is still coaching at MSI and not for a professional team like the MLS. Coach always pushed me to try my hardest although he was always there for me whether it was on or off the pitch. Today, I am playing soccer in an adult league in Maryland. Instead of pursuing soccer to becoming a professional soccer player, I have chose a slightly different path, which is to become a teacher and work with kids. I am currently studying at Montgomery College and plan on transferring to Virginia Tech later this year to pursue a career in Sociology and Education. Over the past two summers I have worked at Butler summer camp where I do various activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, etc. I am a camp counselor and I am responsible for the safety and fun of the kids. I use the values and techniques that Coach Brice has taught me with my campers. I have built strong and beautiful relationships with the kids and I would not have been able to do that without the teachings of Coach Brice. Often times I think of how Coach handles a particular situation and I myself feel confident in my decision-making based upon his past encounters. Most importantly, I thank Coach Brice for everything he has done for me as a person. I recommend him to any aspiring soccer player who is looking for a real genuine person and coach. He is more than a coach; he is a mentor for life, whom I highly strive to be.
My first ever real coach/mentor was coach Brice and he really made me the player I am today. He believed in me when nobody else did. I was the worst player on his team and he trained me every day and told me what I have to do to become better and everyday I did that. After playing with Coach Brice I played on Olney Rangers, the number one team in the nation. I also made the U.S. National team and went on trials in Spain, Sweden, and trained abroad in South America. His development is just on another level and I can tell you now, no coach around here has the mindset and knowledge of the game like Brice does. Still until today I see him as like a father figure and soon hope to go overseas again while under Brice’s hands.
I began playing with Coach Brice at the age of 10. Coach Brice took me under his wing to not only develop me as a player but also as a person. When I first joined his soccer team, I was a forward. However, with his high knowledge in soccer, he transformed and developed me into a center back. As I was getting older, he realized that my technical abilities were improving, so then he trained me to be a holding midfielder. With his tremendous coaching, I was scouted to play for D.C. United youth academy from the age of 14-16. While at the D.C. I was still getting trained by Coach Brice. After playing with D.C. United, I was then scouted to play at Montverde Academy in Orlando, Florida. At Montverde, I ended up winning the High School National Championship in addition to receiving athletic scholarship from more than five division one schools. I then accepted a full scholarship to play for Gardner-Webb University (Big South Conference). I attended Gardner-Webb my freshman and sophomore year of college. During those two years, Coach Brice still trained me when I came home for the holidays. As he saw my improvements, he sent me to Sweden and Finland for some tryouts. Currently I am transferring from Gardner-Webb University to the University of Akron (MAC Conference) to continue to play division one soccer. All this is possible thanks to one man, Coach Brice. Thank you!
When the boys hear something positive out of Coach Brice, they get super-inspired. When they hear criticism from Coach Brice, they only want to improve. There is no negativity, ever. The way I see it is Coach Brice gave our kids an opportunity and the kids cherish it. Kabir will be in it for the full experience.
Jack has very much enjoyed being on your team and we absolutely think you are doing the right thing for the kids. We believe that playing with integrity is of utmost importance, and feel that your coaching style reflects that. Thank you for a great year so far.
We’re happy that Coach Brice concentrates on creating a positive learning environment for the boys, and we’re happy that the team has fun. Zac is glad to be on the team.
As someone who has played this sport for a long time I couldn’t be happier that Ryan is now learning to play this game with Coach Brice. It really does take a long time and many aspects for kids to develop into complete ball player and C. Brice is teaching them the right way. Ryan is thrilled to play for Coach and he is learning and improving a lot along the way – as a player and as a person.
This is Jackson’s first time at any club or select level of soccer and we were very concerned before the season started about the time commitment and possible pressure of a more competitive environment. Thus far he loves the team and we have seen hi develop new skills and understanding of the game. We have been very pleased with Brice’s approach to coaching, to developing the boys, teaching good skills and good sportsmanship.
Our son has been playing for Coach Brice for a little over a year and as a result, we have seen not only an improvement in his soccer skills, but more importantly, a huge jump in his confidence and love of the game. We could not be happier.
We would like to thank Coach Brice for being a wonderful coach for our son, Sahil. Sahil joined one of Coach Brice’s teams when he was 10 years old, after playing for several years in SAM Soccer. Over the past three years, through Coach Brice’s instruction, Sahil has increased his soccer skills immensely. He has gained tremendous confidence in his game, so much so that he had no trouble making his middle school team, Kingsview Middle School, as a 7th grader. Coach Brice greatly enabled Sahil’s improvement in soccer so that he was well prepared to move to a higher level in the game.
Another aspect that separates Coach Brice from many other soccer coaches is that he teaches a healthy respect for the game. He thoroughly enforces respect for referees and linesmen. The same goes for opposition players even if those players are abusive to his team. He always preaches the value of teamwork during practices and games. We think these lessons are truly valuable even beyond soccer, being important for school and ultimately in careers. Thus, we are ever grateful to Coach Brice for his time and coaching which primed Sahil to move to a higher level in soccer.
