4/5/2020

For the week of April 5th, we will focusing on passing, and again, conditioning.
  • Conditioning exercises:
    • 10-15 minutes jogging minimum
    • Conditioning exercises - do 2-3 sets (feel free to do more)
      • Jumping jacks for 60 seconds
      • Torso rotations (also called "Russian Twists") for 60 seconds. Sit with knees bent with both hands together, rotating side to side and tapping the floor. You can hold a soccer ball while doing this.
      • Jog in place, knees up for 60 seconds
      • Supermans for 60 seconds (lay on your stomach, and then raise your arms and legs off the floor, tensing back and butt muscles, then relax and repeat)
      • Butt kicks for 60 seconds
      • Pushups, 2 sets of 10
  • Below are 3 drills and tips that I want players to focus on:

It is very important to keep your toes up. Passing is all about using you inside foot and outside foot, and sometimes even using your heels (professionals will do this a lot). It is also important to look at the ball before passing or kicking it because when you look up while passing, you miss your pass. Your eye needs to be on the ball while passing. The kids can use any equipment around them to practice passing such as walls, tables, anything that can bounce the ball back. Of course, siblings and parents can help.

This video implements the passing skills that I mentioned above

In this video, I want the kids to see the multiple passing techniques (inside, outside and heels back pass from Guti, the Real Madrid player) not the finishing.
