We would like to thank Coach Brice for being a wonderful coach for our son, Sahil. Sahil joined one of Coach Brice’s teams when he was 10 years old, after playing for several years in SAM Soccer. Over the past three years, through Coach Brice’s instruction, Sahil has increased his soccer skills immensely. He has gained tremendous confidence in his game, so much so that he had no trouble making his middle school team, Kingsview Middle School, as a 7th grader. Coach Brice greatly enabled Sahil’s improvement in soccer so that he was well prepared to move to a higher level in the game.
Another aspect that separates Coach Brice from many other soccer coaches is that he teaches a healthy respect for the game. He thoroughly enforces respect for referees and linesmen. The same goes for opposition players even if those players are abusive to his team. He always preaches the value of teamwork during practices and games. We think these lessons are truly valuable even beyond soccer, being important for school and ultimately in careers. Thus, we are ever grateful to Coach Brice for his time and coaching which primed Sahil to move to a higher level in soccer. - The Vashee Family
A huge role model in my life has always been my childhood coach and mentor, Coach Brice Fomegne. Whether it was tucking in my jersey before practice or referring to Brice as ‘Coach’ I learned three important values that I utilize in everyday life. These values include commitment, respect, and fortitude. Coach Brice’s openness and straight forwardness enabled me to listen and follow directions. I began playing for Coach when I was 12 years old. He scouted me from a MSI Classic tryout convention and noticed potential in my ability to play the game.
Once I was on the FC Lions, I quickly noticed that there wasn’t any goofing around. Kids never talked while he was speaking and they always paid close attention to his lessons. He would discuss to players and I what we individually needed to work on to become a professional soccer player and create a stronger team. Coach’s story of how he became a professional player inspired me to work hard and stay humble to others. In training, Coach would play with us, so I always learned from his style of play. He wanted us to try and experiment new moves so that we could practice and try them in a game. Over the years I became one of Coach’s best players. I started to get first place in the conditioning and put 110% into every practice because he showed me it was worth it. The hard work paid off and I became captain of the team.
I stayed with Coach Brice for almost six years until I tried out for higher division teams. I could have easily left the FC Lions earlier, but the other coaches in Maryland weren’t even close to Coach’s level. Sometimes I wonder why he is still coaching at MSI and not for a professional team like the MLS. Coach always pushed me to try my hardest although he was always there for me whether it was on or off the pitch. Today, I am playing soccer in an adult league in Maryland. Instead of pursuing soccer to becoming a professional soccer player, I have chose a slightly different path, which is to become a teacher and work with kids. I am currently studying at Montgomery College and plan on transferring to Virginia Tech later this year to pursue a career in Sociology and Education. Over the past two summers I have worked at Butler summer camp where I do various activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, etc. I am a camp counselor and I am responsible for the safety and fun of the kids. I use the values and techniques that Coach Brice has taught me with my campers. I have built strong and beautiful relationships with the kids and I would not have been able to do that without the teachings of Coach Brice. Often times I think of how Coach handles a particular situation and I myself feel confident in my decision-making based upon his past encounters. Most importantly, I thank Coach Brice for everything he has done for me as a person. I recommend him to any aspiring soccer player who is looking for a real genuine person and coach. He is more than a coach; he is a mentor for life, whom I highly strive to be. - Ryan Moot
Coach Brice is passionate about soccer, has the ability to instill this passion in his players while teaching them respect and good sportsmanship. He is patient, focused on teamwork as well as each player’s personal strengths. He promotes integrity on and off the field. Thanks to Coach Brice, each year our son grows not only as a soccer player but as a confident young man. - Colin's mom
Our son has trained with and played for coach Brice for several years. While the victories are nice, what we truly value about the experience is the skills Andrew and the other boys have developed. With coach Brice, the players have gone from youngsters just learning how to kick a ball to appreciating the difference between dribbling, passing and shooting, and knowing when to do each. They have learned the importance of spacing, positioning and teamwork, and the value of communicating on the field. We often see players on other teams “communicate” with one another by yelling and criticizing. Brice’s players truly talk to one another in a collaborative way. While the development of footskills has been great to see, watching the boys learn the game and how to work with one another as teammates has been the most impressive of all.

Over the past 2 years my daughter has improved tremendously as a soccer player with Coach Brice. Her skills and confidence on the field continue to grow each season, as does her passion and joy for the game! She loves being a part of the FC Lions! - Natalie's Dad
